36 Grannies

Sometimes I get these bright ideas.  At first, they seem good.  Easy blocks.  Good use of scraps.  Then ----- it ends up a YEAR later and I finally get frustrated with seeing the darn thing listed on my wip list.  It was a good idea, right?

I finally mustered up the mojo to power through the remaining tiny Granny Square blocks to make the 36 I needed.  Not going to QuiltCon will do that.
Now these 7 1/2" finished blocks can join the grownups (13").

Here are a few of my favorites...

And now that I've finished the blocks, here shows the current state of things.  I have the large grannies (CbusMQBee blocks) all laid out and I want to border them with something other than white.  I'm loving the green sketch print on the right, but it doesn't look like I have enough yardage.  I should need 3 yards.  Might have to go with the blue sketch in the upper left.  Although the dark navy C+S print in the lower left is nice too.   Decisions, decisions!

  1. Very pretty, I like the navy. Have always wanted to make a granny quilt.

  2. If I couldn't use the green (my favorite color) I would use the navy. They both really make the blocks stand out. The light blue makes a softer quilt. Decisions like this are hard but no matter which is used the quilt will be stunning

  3. dark navy on lower left if you don't have enough green. Very pretty you'll be glad you finished it!

  4. Oooh I see what the mini blocks are for now! Its going to be gorgeous! I'm leaning toward the dark navy for sashing too - really makes the blocks pop! At any rate - I don't think you could go wrong with any of the choices there.
And I've got a box of Farmers Wife blocks that I haven't touched in 5 years. Woops. xo

  7. I love the green, but I know what it’s like to not have enough yardage! I think the navy could be spectacular, too. :)

  11. I love the grey in the top right corner too! Second choice would be the navy - it makes the other colours sing!

  12. The dark navy looks black and my eye immediately went to it. Could really make that white POP. Excited to see this finished quilt.
