Welcome to an August (read: HOT) Follower Friday!  Today's guest is the lovely Felicity of Felicity Quilts.  She has a fantastic modern style to her quilting and I love that she shares that her blogging started with a resolution to sew 20 minutes a day.  It's great to squeeze that "me time" into the day.  Let's find out more about her....

Girls

Felicity of Vancouver, Canada

Occupation:
Paid: Banker, Unpaid: Quilter

Significant Other/Kids/Pets:
I've been married to my husband Kevin for coming up on 11 years, and we have a 3½-year-old daughter Gwendolyn.

# Years Quilting:  10

How you learned to quilt:
My mom taught me to sew at a young age, and I made a few garments for myself. I'd always loved quilts but never thought I could do it myself, for some inexplicable reason. At my husband's suggestion, I took a beginners class at my LQS in 2001. I have been hooked ever since.

Favorite Completed Project Description:
Hmmm...this is a tough one, because I love each of my projects in their own way. I would say I am really happy with how my DQS10 quilt turned out, especially the way my choice of background colour (Kona Robin Egg) gave it a unique look.

DQS10 Finished!

Quilting workstation setup:
I'm lucky to have a space that is more or less dedicated to quilting. It doesn't have a door, but that's okay with me!

Machine(s) you sew on:
I sew on a Bernina Activa 145 - a purchase encouraged by my husband when he spent time in the machine area of my LQS while I browsed. I just acquired a back-up machine so I don't have to experience withdrawal when Bernie is in the shop for servicing. It's an older Singer that a friend gave me.

Your favorite notion/tool in your sewing room:
My personalized pincushion/thread catcher made for me by the awesome Cindy. You can see it in my workstation photo.

A couple of years ago, I found myself doing more reading and dreaming about quilting than actually doing it. It was because I was paralysed by the enormity of a quilting project and how long it takes. But then I realized that like any project, it's just a series of steps that can be completed in little bits of time. My 2010 New Year's resolution was to spend at last 20 minutes a day quilting. I started blogging as a way to keep myself accountable. I had absolutely no idea how much blogging and the online quilt world would (literally) change my life. I'm so very grateful for it and the many friends I've made as a result. Thank you for featuring me, AnneMarie!
