Hoop Quilt Sneak Peek and a Favor

Mar 6, 2017

Oh my gosh you guys!  I've been totally busting my booty over here, working hard on developing a SIMPLE and FUN Hoop Quilt Pattern.  I'm so in love with the ease of making these.  They whip up in a flash compared to an entire quilt.  These photos show you a little sneak peek of what I've been up to.  :)
I have a quick favor to ask you.  I'm debating if I should do a video tutorial on these hoops to demonstrate the technique.  Do you like video tutorials?  Do you use them often?  Is that something you think you would use if I made one?  What would you like to see in a video tutorial?

Any feedback you have is very appreciated.  I can't wait to show you more soon.  Stay tuned!

  1. Honestly I don't usually use video tutorials because I have had slow internet speed. For some reason I can easily watch YouTube videos, but when I purchase one on Craftsy there are so many pauses in it. Picture tutorials work better for my set-up.

  2. It is true that I do like and use video tutorials; however, I live in the country where I don't have good internet service. I have to be careful with my bandwidth, or I run out. Therefore, I usually read instructions, if available. Seeing works much better, but in my case, not so good.

    1. thanks for taking the time to comment Nancy. I was thinking this video would supplement the written instructions - if you needed/wanted additional material. It's not difficult - just a little different from the normal quilt process.

  3. I love video tutorials! I have learned so much from them! Any sewing or knitting, or embroidery skills I need help with I get my answers from video tutorials.

  4. I love video tutorials posted on you tube. I really like the short clips posted along with written instructions, yardage and cutting information in the comment section.

  5. I like a video when it is a new/tricky technique - sometimes seeing it helps one get their mind around it.

  7. I personally prefer written tutorials with step-by-step photos to videos. I don't always have the ability to watch a video, plus I really like having the ability to simply scroll back up to a particular step for help, rather than having to rewind a video. Either way, I'm looking forward to the reveal on this project--looks super cute!

  8. I love videos tutorials! My one "but" is that I also like the details in a tutorial to go back to after watching, or if I need to go back and look for something.

  9. I really like the video tutorials! They show detail movements that you just don't get from written tutorials. That being said, I like the written ones along with the videos, because it's easier to follow along. Does that make sense? Looking forward to whatever you send our way with the hoop quilts!

    1. Thanks for your thoughts Claudia! I think this video would compliment the pattern - since the hoop is a slightly different way to finish a mini quilt. I will probably give it a go!

  11. I think I'd like to know about your design process: How did you decide what design would look good inside that hoop? What made you decide to go with a different color on the outside--was it like binding a quilt or did you want to give it a frame? Did you try anything that didn't work out? If so what was it and why do you think it didn't work? What part what is the trickiest? Show that on the video tutorial for sure.

  12. Ya know, I really like video tutorials, you can stop and rewind as often as needed. I also like LOTS of pix when there is a written tutorial. That's hard to do, I know. I've tried to do that for my grand daughters, and it takes forever. I love your creativity. You're an inspiration!!

  14. I'd love to see this in a video. I've wanted to use a hoop to do some hand quilting, but haven't been able to figure it out on my own. PLEASE show me!
