Love of Quilting Episode #2802 Kin Coterie Now Airing

Have you met Kin Coterie?  Kin Coterie is the quilt I designed and made to teach on Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting TV Show.  It's a colorful companion project to the sampler quilts seen in my book, Sister Sampler Quilts.  It uses one of my favorite techniques - string blocks as a component inside traditional quilt blocks.

The episode is airing now! I'm excited to post about it because it is airing for the first time on my local PBS station tomorrow.  Eeek!  You can check your local listings to see when this (#2802) and other new episodes (2800 series) are airing for you.

The pattern will appear in the September/October 2016 issue of Love of Quilting.

  1. Such a gorgeous quilt! I'm going to record it! I love PBS :-)
My mom was trying to tell me I need to watch the quilting show on WOSU, that I Might Like It... and I told her "Mom, I know all about Love of Quilting! I have a friend who teaches on the show!" Congrats my dear!

  3. Next time you are in Johnston/Des Moines, please let us know. I work right up the road from the studios and would love to have coffee or something. I'm not a crazy stalker, I promise. Just a fan who has bought two years worth of BOMs and never made a single block. LOL

    1. Thanks for the offer Karen! We'll see when my next visit is - I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later! But if we meet for coffee, you're gonna have to show me at least one block!

  4. I watched you this morning on my PBS station. You were GREAT! Your explanations were clear and I appreciated that. You made it look easy, that I could even be successful with this quilt design. I am a beginner and fearful of most quilt patterns :) I have read your blog for years. It was great fun seeing and hearing you on TV. You have made it big-time when you're on Fons and Porter. This is your second time isn't it? but this time you pretty much led the show without Mary Ann and Mary there. Way to go! Home twon girl makes it big lol (I'm from Central Ohio as well)

    1. Aww thank for all the kind words Lynn! It's such a different forum from all the writing I normally do here and in patterns. I'm glad you mentioned my explanations were clear. I want SO BADLY for people to not be afraid to try new things! It's so much fun to experiment!
