Summer Slice block by Allison Harris
I am steadily working on the 2016 Summer Sampler blocks.... I'm up to pace, but I'm not necessarily keeping up every week.  I'm really enjoying following along, and following someone else's patterns.  It's something I so rarely do!

I decided it was time to try to slow down the pace a bit.  Enjoy the summer and enjoy being a part of a quilt along.  It's still so fun to make all the different kinds of sampler blocks for me.  It gives me new ideas and keeps things fresh.

I still have trouble really following a pattern though.  This has always been a problem for me and is how I started designing in the first place.  The block below is case and point.  I use a different method of making string blocks than what is instructed by Faith.  It only took me sewing a couple strips before I realized why she instructed people with her method.  It forces all your intersecting string blocks to line up!  The mismatches you see below are due to my inability to read instructions.  Well, and my stubbornness to keep going even once I realized my mistake.  I'm enjoying that my blocks don't have to be perfect since I'm not the lead on this.  Sometimes you readers don't see how much I unpick to make my blocks look nice for the camera.  :)
