In a rush before traveling to Quilt Market, I made this Supertote for myself. Always need a new bag to travel, right? This was my second go around with this bag and I couldn't wait to make it for myself since I gifted the first one. I bought this Zephyr (C+S) fabric from my local shop and knew right away I wanted it for a bag. I paired it with some Moda grunge in such a dark shade of navy, it almost looks black. I love the tiny silver accents in this print. So sweet.
I carried this bag all over Houston for the weekend. It took a serious beating. (Don't mind some of the wrinkles in the picture.... I should have taken pics before I used it.) It's hard to see in the pic above, but I kept having the top 1" of the bag sink into the inside of the bag. It shows better below. I had a few books inside the bag, so it had some weight pulling on it. I had only reinforced the straps up to that 1" point like the instructions dictate. Has anyone else had that problem? Now that I've used and abused it, I think I'm going to go back and reinforce the straps all the way up to the top of the bag. It looks really cute sewn the way it is now, but I think I need the extra reinforcement for utility.
I love the shiny silver zip I picked out to coordinate with the silver flecks in the Zephyr print too. Well, I'm off to reinforce! Let me know if you have any other tips too.Pin It
