First, these are MY colors. I love the warmth and richness of the reds and oranges.
Especially, as we transition to fall weather. It's perfect.
These Broken Star blocks grab at my heart. Not only are the colors gorgeous, but they are pieced with an ombre rainbow in mind. I love how the color and tone change across the blocks from pink to red to orange to peach.
I decided to quilt this mini with a 1/2" crosshatch. I've only done this a few times. Each time, I get about halfway through and wonder "What was I thinking?". But then after putting in the time, it's truly worth it in the end.
In another, what-was-I-thinking-moment, I decided to piece one of the borders with tiny squares. I strip pieced them for the most part in the same ombre style. I love how it came out, but I should have paid more attention to squaring it. That little bit of waviness is driving me crazy.
Those who follow me on Instagram have requested a pattern for this mini, so I'll be working on that in the coming weeks. I plan to have it out within a month. If you're interested, you can order the PDF pattern here.
