Quilting Vice Versa BOM FYI

May 10, 2014
Pin It I have decided that this year I am going to quilt my own BOM quilt.  Last year, I sent my Sisters' Ten BOM quilt out to my long arm quilter - and although she did a great job, this year I want to do everything myself.  Only problem is that I always feel a little self-conscious about my FMQ ability.

To help me prepare to quilt my own Vice Versa BOM quilt, I enrolled in Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting a Sampler course on Craftsy.  I figure if I start taking the class now - at a leisurely pace over the summer - I will be ready, practiced and more prepared to go for it in the fall with Vice Versa.

Online Quilting Class
I am on Lesson 5 of 13 and I'm excited to get practicing.  Leah has a wealth of information to share and I can already see how my viewpoint on how to quilt each block within a sampler quilt has changed.

I wanted to give you this head's up today because Craftsy is having a Birthday Sale and Leah's Free Motion Quilting a Sampler is on sale.  It's normally $39.99 - this weekend, the class is $19.99.

Just FYI in case this is something you may be interested in too! Pin It

  1. Excellent! I've been quilting my BOM blocks 'quilt-as-you-go' using her designs! I love the result and after 4 months of the BOM I can see how much I've improved. You will be happy with your results!

  3. I took this class last summer and loved it! I ordered the cheater blocks from Spoonflower. Leah definitely gave me the confidence to jump in and quilt my quilts! In fact I still have the last 3 blocks to quilt. I was so excited I just started quilting. Enjoy!

  4. Wonderful that you are doing this! I took that same class of Leah's last fall, when I returned to quilting after a 26-year hiatus ("people are machine quilting now -- what?!??"), and the class and her advice were invaluable. She's so right -- practicing every day really helps!

  5. We're thinking on the same lines! I just took a FMQ class this weekend at my LQS. So fun and I'm so inspired. Now I just need to get some blocks done... *cough*. :)
