Fabric Loft Pre-Cuts at Target + Giveaway

Apr 21, 2014
Pin It Did you hear that Target is now carrying fabric pre-cuts?  Target usually reflects my somewhat low-maintenance style (I say somewhat because I'm not sure my husband would agree :) for home decorating and clothing.  So when Fabric Editions contacted me about the new fabric lines available at Target, I of course wanted to see what it was all about!
Select Target stores are now carrying Fabric Edition's 4 new Fabric Loft lines that come in cotton, canvas and burlap.  You can check here if your local Target is carrying Fabric Loft - and if not, you can request they start here.
I received 1 yd. of Motley canvas and 2 yds. of Motley cotton solids.  With these fabrics, I decided I'd finally make one of the Jane Market Bags I'd been pining over on Instagram.  I love this orange floral print.  I have recently decided that orange is my new favorite color.  This really confuses my kids because red has been my favorite since I was a teenager.  Apparently, it is difficult to change your favorite color mid-stream.  Anywho....
I loved the floral print, so I decided I wanted to add an embroidered accent of the flowers to the middle pocket on the tote, where the cotton solid would be.  I had to plan this in advance of beginning the bag - which I am so glad I did.  Sometimes I get in too much of a rush to get into the meat of a project to think about embellishing beforehand.
I ended up using the canvas for part of the exterior and all of the lining for the bag.  I liked the weight of the canvas - in my opinion, it didn't need interfacing, especially when putting the heavier canvas on both the inside and outside of the bag.  The cotton definitely needed interfacing added to compete with the canvas it would be flanked by.  I backed both the solid on the side of the bag and the pocket with Craft-Fuse.  This was a bit of overkill on the interfacing, but I like my bags stiffer and it's what I had on hand.
I added some polka dot from Bonnie & Camille's April Showers line (available here and here) on the handles because navy and orange are awesome together.  I think navy is my new second favorite color.  :)

I am in love with this bag.  I can see I will be making some more Jane Market bags in the future!  It has pin tucks at the corners that are an adorable addition to the bag. This Fabric Loft canvas was a perfect choice for a market bag like this.
Want to win some Fabric Loft of your own?  I am giving away 1 yd. of canvas and (5) 1 yd. cuts of cotton from Fabric Loft's Trapeze line.  Remember if you want Fabric Loft carried in your Target, go here.
