Mabel Messenger Bag

Jan 10, 2013
Pin It This is my first finish of 2013!  I decided to use some of my much horded Echino (from hubby from Japan) and make myself a new bag.  I've been using the same old one for quite sometime, so an update was much needed.

I am LOVING IT!  (I'm using my best Oprah voice.)  You know how sometimes you envision something you are making and in the end, it falls short of what you wanted?  This bag is the exact opposite for me.

I consider myself a beginner/advanced beginner when it comes to bags.  I wanted a large bag, big enough for all my mom stuff, that I could carry across my body.  I wanted one that had some stiffness and body unlike the other bags I've made.

After searching quite a while, I settled on the Mabel Messenger Bag from Jenna Lou Designs.  I was sold after reading Sara's (Sew Sweetness) review.  She gave quite a few great tips like...

*and adding 2 pockets on the inside instead  of just one.

This is my first magnetic snap installation.  Very simple - love this closure.

And here I am!  I will be happy parading my new bag all over Ohio this winter, even though I should probably save it for spring.  Nah, I can't wait that long...
