Look at these!!!! Super cute right? Last week, I showed you the Pleated Pouches I made. I loved the way they came out, so this week I tried another Michelle Pattern - the Keychain Clutch. Even cuter!

I've had my eye on this pattern for a while. I finally decided to purchase it to make gifts for my boys' teachers. It's perfect - cute, unique, made from scraps and only took 1-2 hours to put together.

I'm going to stuff them with some lip balms and maybe a little bottle of hand sanitizer. I figure all teachers need to bathe in the stuff to keep from getting all the kiddies' germs.
Can you guess what leftover layer cake I used for the linings?

Yep - 12 Days of Christmas from Kate Spain lines 3 of these Keychain Clutches. I was pretty excited to find that the pattern pieces fit onto a 10" layer cake square. I always have those leftover from other projects.
This pink/brown Clutch was my test run. It supposed to be for one of the teachers, but once I discovered that ombre pink button in my stash, I decided I had to keep it. Plus it matches with my Cosmo bag. :)

I think I'm going to keep this pattern in my back pocket as a great easy gift. Next year's teachers won't know it's my go-to pattern right?
I also finally figured out how to sew a button on with my machine! Janome has a bunch of short videos showing how to use different features/feet on their machines. I am happy to say I'll be using the button foot frequently now.

I made pouches for teachers last year, 7 of them! Inside I put a tin of rosebud lip balm and a small tube of l'occitane hand cream. Great winter items!
ReplyDeleteI sure love the lining and think it's a great idea to start saving my scraps. Love your little pouches a bunch. So cute.
