Baby Gift Quilts

Oct 29, 2012
Pin It This post is waaaay over due.  Little Mr. M is over 7 months old and I am just now writing this post to showcase the quilts he received when he was born.  Better late than never?  That's my philosophy for birth announcements too since there a few I have yet to send.

What better gift for a quilter's son?
Amy, Lee and Elizabeth made this quilt for the little guy.  It showed up on our doorstep as a complete surprise!  That is the best kind of surprise.  It's made up of some scrappy log cabins.  I love how these blocks meld together.  Lee straight line quilted it pretty tight on the diagonal, so it's holding up well to washings.  Thank you so much ladies!

My mom (who I taught to quilt in 2010) brought this quilt to the hospital for Mr. M.  She used some great prints for a boy from Sweetwater's Make Life line.  Pinwheels are always a good choice for baby. She straight line quilted a grid pattern.  Thank you Mom!
Pattern modified from: Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine May/June 2011-- Joseph's Pinwheel

Mr. M's last quilt he received was made by my husband's Aunt Jenny.  Aunt Jenny gave me encouragement and support when I first began quilting.  She was the first person I knew who quilted.  She makes tons of quilts for all the babies (19 and still counting) on my husband's side of the family.  This adorable little firefighter quilt has been temporarily confiscated by my middle son who loves fire trucks.  Thank you Aunt Jenny!

I just love these quilts, not only because they are darling, but because they come with love from family and friends.  My kids love to cuddle in them, pile them up and jump on them and use every last quilt we own to make forts.

I guess what I'm saying is:  You can never have enough quilts. Pin It
