Antique Ladder Quilt Rack

Jan 23, 2012
Pin It Just look at this gorgeous find!!!
After seeing my friend Cristin's ladder and Randi's ladder, I put a few of my antiquing friends and family on the lookout for a barn ladder to use as a quilt rack.  A few days after Christmas, while I was out of town visiting family, Cristin texted me to say she found this beauty at a flea market boutique in town.
She even sent me some pics and passed the word to the shop owner to hold it for me.  I was SO happy when we drove back through town and picked up my new quilt rack at the shop.  Don't you just love that antique aqua finish?
I am very excited to have a place to rotate my quilts on display in the great room of our house.  Not to mention, it's super easy to grab one to cuddle up on the couch in.  Love!

(To answer a Q in the comments, I have not attached the ladder to the wall.  It simply rests at an angle.  This is a gamble for now with 2 young boys at home, but let's just say they know their boundaries when it comes to Mom's quilts!  I haven't had any problems so far.  Fingers crossed!)

  11. I love that ladder! I've been wanting one for a while. Lots of barns going by the wayside out here, may see if I can snag some scrap wood and possibly make one of my own.

  13. That's a beauty. I have a fold out ladder that I use for plants. I will have to hunt around for one like yours. My hubby is always snooping around for old tools. He might even have one. A great way to showcase quilts without taking up too much floorspace. Thanks for the tip.

  15. I too have an antique ladder that I display quilts on...the only thing I did was wrapped the rungs that I hung quilts on with batting both for "cush" and so wood oils didn't discolor my quilts.

I get alot of comments on my ladder...love it!

  22. My three older boys keep their paws off my ladder...it is the neighborhood boys that just don't understand what "display only" means.

We just recently attached ours with wire and a screw to the wall because our newest baby thinks it is pretty cool!

    I LOVE that blue finish!
