Follower Friday: Meet Angela of Cut to Pieces

Nov 11, 2011
Pin It Please welcome Angela of Cut to Pieces to this week's Follower Friday!  As I mentioned last week, I'm having a lot of fun featuring those I met at the Sewing Summit.  Angela, Rachel and I sat next to each other at dinner one evening and had a great time chatting it up!

Angela is one of those crazy talented people (just look at the quilt listed as her favorite).  Lately, she has been featuring the block designs she has contributed to the Modern Blocks book.  Hop over to her blog to see her 11 block designs and some great alternate colorways for each block.  Let's learn more about her...

Angela South Bend, IN

Occupation:  Homemaker/Mama!

Significant Other/Kids/Pets:  Husband Michael, Sweet Daughter Caitlyn about to turn 2, cuddly pretty grey kitty Tabitha

# Years Quilting:  about 15!

How you learned to quilt:  I've been entirely self taught. I made my very first quilt for my college dorm room freshman year. I used a book by the quilting legend Eleanor Burns. I've always been a fan of her very clear instructions and ability to give you a great product at the end. A whole book for one pattern! Those were the days! lol

Favorite Completed Project Description:  Isn't this like asking to pick your favorite child? It's so hard. I love so many for different reasons. I wish I could pick them all. But I'll forever be proud of my first doll quilt, Where Bluebirds Fly. It really helped me step up my game and dive into quilting and the online world even more. So it's one of the more significant pieces in many ways to me personally.

Quilting workstation setup:  Oh I've had much better set ups than I do now! I'm crammed in a little nook of a room right now with my daughter's play kitchen set up on one side of my little desk to help block out my little gal from getting to my supplies and a folding chair on the other to block things. It's a little ridiculous to get to things. But I have two large VERY full bookcases of supplies. So I'm very blessed by that!

Here it is sans play kitchen lol...
Finally organized!

Machine(s) you sew on:  I have a Brother Innovis 650Q? Not too sure on the number. ;) It was a HUGE step up from my first machine and has proven to me that having the right piece of equipment for the job can make such a huge difference. I would upgrade even more but I definitely don't have the budget for it and I'm pretty content with my machine for now.

Your favorite notion/tool in your sewing room:  Hmmm...silly as it sounds, I just got a new cutting mat and I didn't realize how desperately I needed one. When you can't see the lines on your board anymore, it's time for a new mat. ;) I'd love to find some rulers that I totally adore too. I'm up in the air on those for now.

Thanks so much for having me today!  I live and breathe sewing these days and it's fun that there is an online community with such great support.  I just wish I had enough time for all the projects that I want to try. ;)

If you'd like to keep up with Angela and all that she's up to visit her blog Cut to Pieces and/or flickr photostream.  Have a great weekend!
