**Looking for the GiveAway Day post?  Psst - it's here!**

angry sew·ing

–noun

1.
the work of one who sews while angry, frustrated, or just fed up.
2.
something that needs to be sewn that causes anger.

Do you know "angry sewing"?  Well, I do.  I recently had a rather large thorn in my side while working on the Kona Challenge Quilt for CMQG.  I had 10 blocks together, had to rip everything out, and start over.  The angry comes in during the ripping out and resewing phase.  I'll show you this finish next week (I wanted to share it on Sew Modern Monday and Fabric Tuesday).  But let me tell you, there were a few choice cuss words uttered while working on it.

In the meantime, I got so frustrated working on the Kona quilt, I decided to completely avoid it for a day or two (even though the deadline was looming).  To make sewing happy again, I decided this bag would do the trick.

It's reversible!  Which is exactly what I had in mind for this fabric found at my recent Quilt Show adventures.  I used 4 fat quarters.

Now I have a fun spring bag!  It's definitely NOT perfect.  I always seem to have some trouble doing curves and bags with shapes other than square.  But as long as no one is inspecting it, I think it's cute.

Best of all, I made it in about 2 hours and it cured the angry sewing.
Lesson learned:  Sometimes an easy instant-gratification sewing project will help you regain your patience for quilting and piecing.

Or in this case, re-piecing.

sorry for the glare - it was a beautiful day yesterday AND these pics were taken by my 4 yr old

  2. You nailed "angry sewing" perfectly!
And a cute little bag (or sometimes starting a totally new quilt) usually makes me happy again, too!

  4. I definitely know angry sewing! It usually happens when I mistakenly do not buy quite enough fabric...meaning I am literally a 1/4 in short on one square out of the whole quilt. Oh yeah, angry sewing is something I am very familiar with. The bag thous is awesome! Great cure :)

  8. I can't angry sew. . My picker starts ripping fabric when I do. If I'm mad, I usually step away and do something else. I do angry drive which is way more dangerous right? lol

  9. Oh I know what you mean- that happens to me to but then I have to put it down and can't sew anything until I put some space between me and the project.
Angry sewing often happens when I try to sew at night because when I am tired I make lots of mistakes- so I try not to sew at night too much. Which is when I have the most time... oh well.

    Love the bag- cute!

  10. Pretty good for a 4 yr old!! At first I thought I didn't know angry sewing, but then remembered my most recent trial with FMQ-ing my "Bliss" Quilt. Very frustrating! Is that ironic or what ?!?! How come we never see fabric lines named "angry", or "frustrated", or "pathetic"?

  11. Oh, angry sewing, I know ALL about that! Cute reversible bag, I'm glad it cured your angry sewing! And I love that you're putting your child to work taking your pictures - he did a great job. If mine were taking pictures of me, I'd be lucky if any of me ended up in the frame. : )

  12. Those pictures look pretty great for being taken by a 4 year old. Some adults can't take nice pictures :) That bag is super cute! I can't sew (or craft) after about 9pm. That's when stuff takes a turn for the worse...
