Chatting with Amy Butler

Yep!  Can you believe it?  Last week I was able to attend a meet and greet with Amy Butler at my favorite LQS Sew to Speak.

The best and most unbelievable part is that Amy didn't just sign autographs and take some pictures.  She took the time to have everyone who attended sit down and chat with her for a bit.  She was SO nice and very personable.  She seemed genuinely interested in hearing about you, your projects, life!

Me, Amy Butler, and Cristin

Cristin and I took the opportunity to chat about the Columbus Modern Quilt Guild to let her know we were up and running.  Amy lives just outside of Columbus in a quaint little town called Granville.  We (CMQG) hope to coordinate some things with Amy and her staff in the future.

I picked up a copy of Style Stitches the day before.  Lots of ladies at the meet and greet were wearing their tunics and bags made from Amy's patterns.  I SO want to make this bag on the cover.  Super cute and roomy!

We also received a copy of this pattern.

It was great fun and so nice to chat with her!  It's nice to know someone like her is from Ohio.

  1. Wow, that's so awesome, AnneMarie!!! Especially the part about her being local to you and the possibility of her coming to speak for your guild. Wow! Did you see that Bree over at My Crafty Crap is doing a Sew Along with that book? Every month, they make one bag - you might want to check it out, there's some good reviews of the patterns and hints and tips about what worked well and what didn't. :)

  4. OMG! Get OUT of here! That is so amazing!!! She is so amazing!!! I agree that it's nice to see good things come out of Ohio and the Midwest. My DH is from Chicago, and I spent 3-4 years in Louisville, lived in MI, and ties to Cinci. When we lived in MI, DH used to go to training every year in Columbus, and always said he really liked it there. What a neat opportunity for you! Good luck!

  5. How fun! She's always so sweet at market too. Although I'm sure, much busier, so less chatting.
