I'm linking up in Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday again...  I think I really like this.  It's kind nice to watch your progress on things you may not otherwise have noticed.  So, on to the projects!

1.  100 Quilts for Christmas Charity Quilt:  This is a small baby quilt and I pieced  and quilted it since last week.  It's just 6 simple pinwheels in the baby blue pinstripe and white, bordered by white sashing, then framed at the top and bottom with the cowboy elephant border.  It needs binding to be complete. I think it's cute!  I need to start my donation plan....I'd like to give it to our local Children's Hospital I used to work at and need to figure out who the right contact is.

2.  That Quilt Along:  I pieced the back (Kona Coal and Make Life by Sweetwater for Moda) which is always more work than you think since I've turned into a prewasher, and then I basted the whole thing before I turned it over.  Ahhhh!!  There are wrinkles everywhere.  My fingers couldn't take any more that day and my determination has wavered....  Must fix so I'll hopefully have some progress for next week.

3.  New Adventure in Embroidery:  I haven't really done too much in the way of embroidery.  I'm not sure what probed me to get started now.... but I've been having a great time working on this in the evening.

For some reason, it's SO relaxing. Here's a sneak peek! I'm so excited! I'll be posting the finished project maybe this weekend....

Now why am I blogging?  I need to be working on xmas gifts!

  1. that embroidery is SO cute! Hey..for your pieced backing/basting incident, two things that work for me, I'm sure you already know., but just in case ( I didn't at first) tape your backing to the floor, from middles then outwards to the corners pulling it taught, but not tight. Then when you lay your batting and quilt top over it, you know it's going to be relatively worry free. Also, pin more generously from the center of your quilt outwards. I can't stand basting, and would rather do it as fast as possible, but for some reason, this way seems to do the trick. I need knee pads though ;-)

  5. OMG, your embroidery is gorgeous! Wow! Those are some skills. I can't wait to see how it turns out. And your quilt back looks fabulous - question, though, why did you turn into a prewasher? Sounds like there's a story there... :) Happy WiP Wednesday!

  6. Your projects are all great! Sometimes the simplest designs are the most effective - your charity quilt does a great job of highlighting your (supercute) feature fabric. Basting sucks - I have a Kwik Klip pin closer on my Christmas list. And I just got into embroidery a little myself and it is such a nice thing to have on your lap when sitting on the couch watching TV!

Happy WiP Wednesday - it's a great way to celebrate progress.

  9. Your embroidery looks great! I can't believe it's a newish hobby for you! Can't wait for the big reveal. I completely agree, I hate basting, but I find the more pins I use the better.

The charity quilt is adorable! It will make someone very happy!
