The "Fly-by-the-Seat-of-Your-Pants" Cookie Monster Christmas Stocking

So my little guy is approaching his second Christmas without a stocking.  Last year, I let him use mine, since after all, he was 4 months old and it was only filled with baby teething rings.

This year he needs his own.....something that reflects his personality.....  Seeing as he is still only 13 months, and not into the latest Buzz Lightyear doll action figure, I tried to think of something that captures of part of him, yet is timeless.

**Light bulb!**  P-E-R-F-E-C-T!  The Cookie Monster!  Except I do have to note that the little guy does not discriminate.....he will eat *almost* anything you put in front of him.  And he regularly eats more than my 4 yr.old.  It makes me laugh that his hearty appetite will now be documented through my quilting.  Ha!

So here we go.  I've no pattern.  Just an idea and a $1 Sesame Street book I picked up from Target a couple years ago.  Wish me luck!

  1. Awesome! I love me some Cookie Monster action!

Don't feel back about not having the stocking yet - James is 3.5 and doesn't have a homemade one, but arguably he also didn't really "get" the whole Santa / stocking thing until this year.

If you want to applique the Cookie Monster, try tracing from the front cover onto Wonder Under. It's see through enough that you could trace onto the paper side, fuse, then cut out the shape and slap it onto your background fabric.

Also word from a former stocking maker - aim for bigger rather than smaller because the inside dimensions are always much smaller than the outside! You'll want all those Buzz Lightyears and Lightning Mcqueens to fit!

    Good luck,

    Leah
