Cookie Monster Stocking: Developing the Applique

Happy Labor Day!  Today is actually our 8th wedding anniversary....how nice to have my hubby home for a long weekend!

My first step in making the stocking was a trip to the library to make copies of my favorite pages.  There were 2 pages I thought may be a possibility.  I made a couple copies of each just to be safe.

In each picture, Cookie Monster is holding a tray of cookies.  I liked this image in conjunction with leaving cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve.  I chose to use the bottom picture because I liked the angle Cookie is facing considering which way the toe will point on my stocking (to the right).

So!  Now I just cut out the top half of Cookie Monster's body and sketched the bottom half free hand on paper before transferring the shapes onto my blue monster fabric.

Add some Cookie Monster accessories....and wha-la!
