Welcome to the new blog for Gen X and Gen Y Quilters!!

Jun 24, 2010
Pin It So glad to see you!

I went to my first NQA Quilt Show in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. It was fun and inspiring, however, I kept noticing I was one of the very few under 50. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the gray-haired grannies, many of whom have volumes of knowledge to share with us younger quilters. But where are the Gen X and Gen Y quilters??? I would like to create a network with quilters in my own age group and learn what projects you are working on.

Here is my vision for this blog:

1. Interactive! Not just me talking about my projects. Guest bloggers and Follower profiles.

2. Topic Questions: Find out more about each other's skills, tips, ideas, etc.

3. Patterns and Quilt-Alongs

4. Contests: Create our own Best-of-Show collection!

5. The sky is the limit: looking for suggestions from fellow Gen X/Y quilters.....

But none of this can happen if we don't have a community.

Become a follower.... Tell your friends.....
....... Leave me a comment!!

And I hope to see you back again soon! Pin It

  1. I'm very intrigued!!!

I will probably mention this on my blog within the next few days. I am mulling over a post about the IQF show that was moved to Cincinnati from Chicago and the negative comments that I have been hearing about the move from people who have no idea what they are talking about. In a discussion, one thing that came up is that people identify quilting with grannies and that is just not the case anymore!!

  2. I would be so grateful if you mentioned GenXQ in your blog! I hoping to get the word out!! I am sure there are lots of "younger" quilters, like me, who hesitate at joining a guild b/c you'd be the youngest by 20 years. I thought an online blog/network would be appropriate for these generations!

  3. This is a terrific idea for a blog! I think a great post would be "How to relate to a younger quilter", kind of like a guideline to the grannies not to treat us like we're going to steal their seam rippers.

There's a balancing act to find, but I definitely feel like the weird woman out at most events. It's hard to relax...

But then again, this hobby is so wonderful and everyone is very open, encouraging, and willing to teach. In no other hobby can you find this level of dedication or love, so truly the grannies ROCK!

    Let's go quilt,

    Leah Day
